报告摘要:The PhD journey presents unique challenges that extend far beyond academic coursework and research methodology. This presentation addresses four critical areas that significantly impact PhD success but are rarely taught explicitly: effective time management in an unstructured environment, developing deep work capabilities to maximize research productivity, mastering presentation skills to effectively communicate complex ideas, and building collaborative relationships that amplify research impact. Drawing from common pitfalls and successful strategies observed in AI and software engineering PhD programs, this talk provides practical frameworks for managing the transition from structured undergraduate education to independent research. The goal is to equip PhD students with essential meta-skills that complement their technical expertise, ultimately leading to more productive, fulfilling, and successful doctoral experiences.
报告人简介:Dr. Zhou Yang (杨洲) obtained his PhD degree from Singapore Management University, where he currently works as a Research Scientist.
